Botpress pricing: plans, what a conversation costs, and how automatic packs change your bill

Botpress moved to pricing by conversation, with AI usage included up to a limit and extra conversations added in automatic packs. The model is simple to read and easy to misjudge at the edges. This guide lists every plan as shown on Botpress's pricing page on 25 October 2026, explains the rules that decide the bill, and shows what 100 to 3,000 conversations a month cost.

Quick answer

Botpress is free for 100 conversations a month. Plus costs $150 a month billed yearly for 250 conversations, and Team $750 for 1,500; Enterprise is custom. Extra conversations come in packs of 100 at $65 on Plus or $50 on Team, added automatically at 95% of your quota. Each conversation includes $0.10 of AI usage; heavier AI use adds $10 credit grants.

How much does Botpress cost?

Botpress has four plans: Free at $0, Plus at $150 a month billed yearly, Team at $750 a month billed yearly, and Enterprise on custom pricing. Yearly billing saves 20%, so monthly billing costs more.

Botpress says the same plans and conversation counts apply whichever of its products you use: Botpress Desk, Studio, Viber or its developer kit. It also runs a Botpress for Good program with lower prices for nonprofits, education and open-source projects, by application.

What counts as a conversation on Botpress?

Any exchange with at least two messages from the end user in the billing month. That is the unit you pay for, whether the AI or a person handles it.

The two-message rule helps: a visitor who opens the chat and says "hi" once does not cost anything. The anonymous-session rule hurts on websites where visitors are not logged in and come back later, because each return can be a new conversation.

How do Botpress's automatic packs work?

When you reach 95% of your monthly quota, Botpress adds a pack of 100 conversations and charges for it. You cannot turn this off, and unused conversations in a pack expire at the end of the month.

Botpress's reasoning is that pausing conversations would pause the product. It sends warnings at 75% and 100% of quota and on every pack purchase, and packs persist month to month until you remove them in billing settings. The practical effect of the 95% trigger is that you often finish a month with one more pack than strict arithmetic suggests. On Plus, for example, a month of exactly 1,000 conversations buys nine packs, not eight, because the eighth pack takes your quota to 1,050 and 95% of that is 997.5.

Tip. Watch the 75% warning. If you regularly need more than about four packs on Plus, compare the cost of Team, which includes 1,500 conversations and cheaper packs.

How is AI usage charged?

Each conversation includes $0.10 of AI usage, the cost of calling the language model, covered by Botpress. Plans show this as a monthly AI allowance: $25 on Plus and $150 on Team.

If your agent uses more, for example with long conversations or expensive models, Botpress buys a $10 AI credit grant on your behalf when you reach 95% of your AI spend limit, sold at cost. Unlike conversation packs, these grants do not expire at month end; unused balance carries over for up to 12 months. Grant auto-recharge is not available on the Free plan, and on paid plans the $10 amount and 95% trigger cannot yet be changed. Botpress says controls for the threshold, purchase size and a monthly cap are coming.

Botpress explains why it prices per conversation rather than per resolution: conversations are predictable, and resolution pricing raises the bill as the bot gets better. That is a fair point to weigh against per-resolution tools such as Intercom Fin; see our Fin pricing guide.

What storage and other limits apply?

LimitFreePlusTeam
Table rows1,000100,000500,000
Vector storage (knowledge)100 MB1 GB5 GB
File storage100 MB10 GB50 GB
Storage add-onNot available, hard cap$40 a month$40 a month

The $40 storage add-on adds 100,000 table rows, 1 GB of vector storage and 10 GB of file storage. Most small agents never need it; agents with large document libraries might.

WhatsApp is listed on Plus. It runs on Meta's official platform, and Botpress's documentation has you connect your own WhatsApp Business Account, with Meta verifying your business before the bot can message users. Meta's message charges are billed through that account, including service replies above 1,000 a month per number since 1 October 2026 under Meta's pricing.

What does Botpress cost at different volumes?

Monthly cost on yearly billing, applying the 95% pack rule, before any AI credit grants, storage add-on or Meta fees.

Conversations a monthFreePlusTeamCheapest
Up to 100$0$150$750Free
230Over limit$150$750Plus
400Over limit$150 + 2 packs = $280$750Plus
600Over limit$150 + 4 packs = $410$750Plus
1,000Over limit$150 + 9 packs = $735$750Plus, narrowly
1,100Over limit$150 + 10 packs = $800$750Team
2,000Over limit$150 + 19 packs = $1,385$750 + 7 packs = $1,100Team
3,000Over limit$150 + 30 packs = $2,100$750 + 17 packs = $1,600Team

The Free plan has no top-ups, so a busy month simply hits the limit. Above roughly 1,000 to 1,100 conversations a month, Team is cheaper than Plus with packs, and it also brings unlimited seats and routing.

Two worked Botpress bills

Both are hypothetical, on yearly billing.

A small business website and WhatsApp agent

About 400 conversations a month, short exchanges on an economical model, so AI usage stays within the included $0.10 per conversation. Plus at $150, plus 2 packs at $65 = $130. Total: $280 a month, or about $0.70 per conversation, with Meta's WhatsApp charges extra above 1,000 service messages per number.

A software company's support agent

About 2,500 conversations a month, longer technical exchanges on a premium model. Team at $750, plus 12 packs at $50 under the 95% rule = $600. AI usage runs at about $0.15 a conversation, $375 a month; if only the plan's $150 allowance covers it, the other $225 comes as 23 credit grants of $10 = $230. A large knowledge base needs the $40 storage add-on. Total: about $1,620 a month, or about $0.65 per conversation, and less if pack conversations also carry their $0.10 of AI usage.

Is Botpress worth the price?

For teams that want to build custom agents with workflows, tables, integrations and several channels, Botpress's pricing is clear and predictable, and the free plan is a genuine way to prototype. The automatic packs remove the risk of a bot going silent mid-month, at the cost of not being able to cap spend tightly.

For a small business that only needs a straightforward website or WhatsApp assistant, $150 a month billed yearly is a high starting point, and someone still has to build and maintain the agent. Compare Chatbase vs Botpress for a simpler builder, Botpress vs Voiceflow for a voice-focused one, and Botpress alternatives for more.

We make ReplyKit, a finished AI agent for WhatsApp and website chat that answers from your own content and books appointments, from $29 a month for 1,000 AI replies, with no per-conversation packs and no Meta fees (plans). It connects by QR code, which is unofficial and not sanctioned by Meta, so a number can be restricted; we cap replies and recommend a dedicated number. It has no visual builder, API, webhooks or custom integrations, so for custom agents Botpress is the better choice. See ReplyKit vs Botpress, or try ReplyKit free for 7 days.

Frequently asked questions

Is Botpress free?

Yes, Botpress has a free plan with 100 conversations a month, 3 seats and 3 AI agents, with AI usage included. It has no top-ups or overages, so the agent stops taking new conversations at the limit. Paid plans start at $150 a month billed yearly.

How much is Botpress Plus?

Plus costs $150 a month billed yearly and includes 250 conversations, $25 of AI usage, unlimited AI agents, 3 seats, WhatsApp and white-label webchat. Extra conversations cost $65 per 100. Monthly billing costs more, since yearly billing saves 20%.

What counts as a conversation in Botpress?

Any exchange with at least two messages from the end user in the billing month. Conversations spanning two months count in both, anonymous sessions count separately, and voice calls count as one conversation per 3 minutes.

Can I stop Botpress from buying extra conversation packs?

No. Botpress adds a pack of 100 conversations at 95% of your quota and says auto-recharge for packs cannot be turned off. It warns you at 75% and 100% of quota so you can change plans before overages start.

What happens when Botpress AI spend runs out?

On paid plans, Botpress automatically buys a $10 AI credit grant at cost when you reach 95% of your AI spend limit. These grants carry over for up to 12 months. Auto-recharge for grants is not available on the Free plan.

Does Botpress charge for WhatsApp?

The WhatsApp channel is listed on Plus. Meta's own message charges are billed through your WhatsApp Business Account, with 1,000 free service messages a month per number since 1 October 2026, and each WhatsApp exchange also counts as a Botpress conversation.

How we know this. We read Botpress's pricing page, including its plan comparison and FAQ, and its WhatsApp integration documentation on 25 October 2026. Monthly-billing prices are calculated in the browser and were not in the page we read, so we quote yearly prices. The volume table is our arithmetic from Botpress's published prices and its 95% pack rule; the two bills, conversation lengths and AI usage per conversation are hypothetical assumptions. We build ReplyKit, a finished WhatsApp and website agent; for custom-built agents, Botpress is the better choice. About ReplyKit.
