Chatbase pricing explained: what each plan costs, how message credits are used, and how many replies you actually get

Chatbase prices by message credits, and a credit is not a reply. Depending on the AI model you pick and whether the agent runs an action, one reply can use one credit or several. This guide lists the plans and add-ons, turns credits into realistic reply counts, and prices two months for small businesses.

Quick answer

Chatbase has three self-serve plans: Hobby at $40 a month for 700 message credits, Standard at $150 for 4,000 and Pro at $500 for 15,000, or $32, $120 and $400 a month billed yearly. A reply uses 1 credit on economical models and up to 5 on premium ones, and actions add requests. Extra credits cost $40 per 1,000.

What is a Chatbase message credit?

A message credit is Chatbase's unit for AI usage. Each request to the AI model costs a number of credits that depends on the model you choose, and an agent with actions may make more than one request per reply.

So the same Standard plan can mean 4,000 replies or 800, depending on settings you control. Decide your model before you decide your plan.

How many replies does each plan really give?

Divide the plan's credits by the credits each reply uses. This table assumes one model request per reply; halve the numbers if most replies trigger an action.

Credits per replyHobby (700)Standard (4,000)Pro (15,000)
1 (economical model)700 replies4,000 replies15,000 replies
2 (most advanced models)3502,0007,500
4 (premium reasoning)1751,0003,750
5 (heaviest models)1408003,000

Per reply, that ranges from about $0.06 to $0.29 on Hobby at monthly prices, and $0.033 to $0.17 on Pro. Attachments can add more: Chatbase's FAQ notes that image and PDF analysis are priced separately per model.

How to pick a Chatbase plan in four steps

  1. Count last month's questions. Use your inbox, website chat or WhatsApp history. That is your reply count, roughly.
  2. Choose the model on quality, then price it. Test answers on a 1-credit model first; move up only if answers are noticeably worse. Each step up multiplies your credit use.
  3. Count actions. If a share of replies books, looks up orders or checks stock, add one extra request for each of those.
  4. Add 30% headroom. Plan credits do not roll over, but running out mid-month means recharges at $40 per 1,000. Pick the plan whose allowance covers your estimate plus a buffer, and set an auto-recharge threshold for spikes.

Chatbase add-ons and extra costs

Auto-recharge credits: $40 per 1,000

When your balance falls below a threshold you set, Chatbase adds non-expiring credits automatically. At $0.04 a credit, this is pricier than plan credits on Standard ($0.0375) and Pro ($0.033), and about 30% cheaper than Hobby's ($0.057).

Extra AI agents: $300 a year each

Every plan includes one agent. A second agent, for a second brand or a separate internal bot, is $300 a year.

Remove "Powered by Chatbase": $1,188 a year

That is $99 a month for white-labeling the widget, more than double the Hobby plan itself.

Seats

Members are included up to the plan limit: 2, 3 or 5. There is no separate per-seat price on the pricing page.

WhatsApp on Chatbase and who bills the messages

Every Chatbase plan includes a WhatsApp integration. You connect through a Facebook login, choose or create a WhatsApp Business profile and add a number, which can then only be used by the AI agent. Chatbase's WhatsApp guide says you can send 1,000 free messages a month and, to send more, add a payment method in your Meta billing settings, so Meta bills you directly for messages beyond that.

That matches Meta's pricing since 1 October 2026: 1,000 free service messages per business phone number a month, then a per-message charge by country, with templates charged on every delivery. Each WhatsApp reply also uses Chatbase credits, so a WhatsApp conversation draws on two meters.

Two worked Chatbase bills

Hypothetical businesses, monthly billing unless stated.

An online course business with a website chatbot. 1,500 replies a month on a 2-credit model: 3,000 credits, so Standard at $150 with 4,000 credits. It wants its own branding: $1,188 a year, or $99 a month. Total: about $249 a month, or about $219 on yearly billing. Without white-labeling, $150.
A dental clinic answering on its website and WhatsApp. Hobby at $40, on a 1-credit model. In a normal month, 500 plain replies plus 100 booking replies through the Calendly action at 2 credits each: 700 credits, exactly the allowance. In a busy month of 900 replies it needs about 1,100 credits, so one $40 recharge. WhatsApp replies stay inside Meta's free 1,000. Total: $40 a month, or $80 in a busy month.

Is Chatbase worth the money?

Chatbase is worth it if you want a general-purpose AI agent trained on your documents, deployed on a website, app or messaging channels, with a choice of AI models and a long integration list on Standard. It suits SaaS products, course creators and content-heavy sites, and its native WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger integrations are included even on Hobby.

It is harder to budget for than a flat plan. Your real capacity depends on model and actions, white-labeling is expensive, and booking means wiring Calendly in as an action that uses extra credits per booking reply. Every plan also includes only one AI agent, so a business with two brands or two very different audiences pays $300 a year for the second.

How we know this. We read Chatbase's pricing page and its plan comparison and FAQ on 17 October 2026, its documentation FAQ on credits per model and its WhatsApp integration guide, and checked Meta's free service message tier on Meta's pricing page. Reply counts per plan are arithmetic from those published numbers; the bills are hypothetical. We make ReplyKit, which competes with Chatbase for small business customer service, so weigh our view accordingly; for app or SaaS support, voice, or teams who want to choose the AI model, Chatbase is the better fit.
