Intercom Fin pricing: what $0.99 per outcome costs in practice, and what Intercom adds on top
Fin's headline price is one number, $0.99 per outcome. What you actually pay depends on how many conversations Fin closes, which Intercom plan and how many seats sit underneath it, and which add-ons and channels you switch on. This guide explains each part and works out two bills.
Quick answer
Intercom's Fin AI Agent costs $0.99 per outcome, charged once per conversation it resolves or completes. On an Intercom plan you also pay per seat: $19 to $132 a month billed annually, depending on plan, or $29 to $139 monthly. Fin on another helpdesk has no seat cost but a minimum monthly commitment. Channels such as WhatsApp are billed by usage.
What counts as a Fin outcome?
Intercom charges $0.99 each time Fin produces an outcome in a conversation, and only once per conversation, even if Fin answers several questions in it. According to Intercom's pricing page, an outcome is counted when:
- the customer confirms their issue is resolved, or
- the customer does not ask for more help after Fin responds, or
- Fin completes a workflow (a Procedure), including handoffs.
The second and third rules are worth reading twice. A customer who gets an answer and simply leaves counts as an outcome. And a Procedure that ends by handing over to a person also counts. So "per outcome" is broader than "per fully resolved ticket", and your outcome count can be close to Fin's total conversation count if most of its conversations end in an answer or a completed procedure.
| Fin outcomes a month | Fin charge |
|---|---|
| 100 | $99 |
| 300 | $297 |
| 500 | $495 |
| 1,000 | $990 |
| 5,000 | $4,950 |
Intercom seat prices with Fin
Every Intercom plan includes Fin, so on an Intercom plan the bill is seats plus outcomes. Seat prices depend on plan and billing period.
| Plan | Seat, billed annually | Seat, billed monthly | Free Lite seats | Adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $19 (pricing page) or $29 (help article) | $29 (pricing page) or $39 (help article) | None | Messenger, shared inbox, ticketing, help center, basic automation |
| Advanced | $85 | $99 | 20 | Workflows, multiple team inboxes, round robin, multilingual help center |
| Expert | $132 | $139 | 50 | SSO, HIPAA support, SLAs, multibrand Messenger and help center |
We checked on 17 October 2026. Intercom's pricing page showed Essential at $19 a seat billed annually and $29 monthly, and the page code marks that card as an experiment; Intercom's plans help article lists Essential at $29 annually and $39 monthly. Confirm the price in your own checkout. Advanced and Expert matched in both places.
A Full seat is needed for anyone who replies to customers; Lite seats are free on Advanced and Expert for internal collaborators. There is no seat minimum beyond one, and Intercom offers a 14-day free trial with no card that includes Fin and all add-ons.
Fin on your existing helpdesk
If you use Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, Freshdesk or another helpdesk, you can buy Fin without an Intercom plan. The price is still $0.99 per outcome, with no seat costs and no setup or platform fees, but Intercom applies a minimum monthly commitment, giving 50 outcomes as an example. Fin for Sales and Fin for Ecommerce need an Intercom plan, and the Early Stage startup program does not apply to this route. Fin Voice is priced through sales.
Add-ons: Copilot, Pro and Proactive Support Plus
Copilot
An AI assistant for your agents in the inbox. $29 per agent a month billed annually or $35 monthly for unlimited use. Each agent gets 10 Copilot and 10 AI auto-translation conversations free a month.
Pro
Analytics and quality tools for improving Fin, plus Operator, an agent for customer operations. From $100 a month, including analysis of 500 conversations and 6,000 credits; extra credits are $0.01 each.
Proactive Support Plus
Outbound tools such as product tours, surveys and in-app messages. $99 a month including 500 messages, then charged per message.
Services
Premier Support and Premier Support Rapid Response are paid service add-ons, priced through sales.
Channel charges, including WhatsApp
Live chat, support email, in-app chats, banners and tooltips are free and unlimited on every plan. WhatsApp, SMS, phone and email campaigns are pay-as-you-go. Intercom's FAQ says WhatsApp is charged per conversation, varying by volume and direction, so ask Intercom for its WhatsApp rates for your markets.
Underneath, Meta's own pricing applies to any WhatsApp Business API provider. Since 1 October 2026, Meta charges for service replies inside the 24-hour window after the first 1,000 a month per business phone number, on top of template charges. If Fin handles a lot of WhatsApp traffic, every Fin answer is also a service message.
Two worked Fin bills
Both teams are hypothetical. Resolution rates are assumptions for illustration, not Intercom figures.
The pattern: seats are predictable; Fin is not. A month where Fin answers more is a month you pay more, which is exactly what per-outcome pricing is designed to do.
To estimate your own Fin line, take last month's conversation count, multiply it by the share you expect Fin to answer or route through a Procedure, and multiply by $0.99. Then add seats and any add-ons. Run the 14-day trial on real traffic and read the outcome count Intercom reports before you commit to an annual plan.
When is $0.99 per outcome worth it?
Per-outcome pricing is worth it when a person handling the same conversation costs you more than $0.99. A rough test: if a support agent costs $18 an hour and handles six conversations an hour, each human-handled conversation costs about $3. Fin at $0.99 is a third of that, and it works at night.
It stops being worth it when your volume is high and simple. A business with 3,000 routine questions a month pays about $2,970 in Fin outcomes before seats, which is more than many small businesses' entire software budget. Intercom's Early Stage program changes the math for startups: Advanced at 93% off in year one ($65 a month) with 300 free Fin outcomes a month, for companies under $10M raised with fewer than 15 employees.
Fin's strengths are real: it answers across chat, email and other channels, takes actions in external systems, hands off cleanly into Intercom's inbox, and sits on a mature helpdesk. For a software company with a help center and a support team, it is one of the best-known AI agents on the market.
Alternatives to per-outcome pricing
We make ReplyKit, so weigh our view accordingly.
- Tidio Lyro charges per AI conversation, from $0.70 to $0.78 on self-serve tiers.
- Chatbase charges by message credits, with a flat monthly plan.
- ReplyKit charges a flat $29, $49 or $99 a month with 1,000, 5,000 or 20,000 AI replies, a website assistant, booking and a leads CRM, aimed at small businesses on WhatsApp rather than software support teams. It connects WhatsApp through Quick Connect, an unofficial QR pairing method rather than the official API, which Meta does not sanction, so a number can be restricted; read will WhatsApp ban my number before choosing it, and use a dedicated number. Before connecting you see one plain notice, and pressing Connect accepts section 3 of our Terms. It has no email channel and no integrations beyond CSV export, so the startup above should stay with Intercom.
