Twelve WhatsApp templates for announcing a price increase: the notice, the reasons that land, the lock-in offer, and the reply to "why?"
Raising prices is easier than telling customers, which is why many businesses just change the number and hope. On WhatsApp the better move is a short honest notice with a date and, for regulars, a chance to book at the old price. Here are twelve versions.
Quick answer
Send the notice to existing customers who gave you their number, two to four weeks before the change, with the new price, the date, one honest reason, and any lock-in offer (book or renew before the date at the current price). Keep it short, do not over-apologise, and answer the "why?" reply with the same reason and a thank-you. Never send it as a mass blast to everyone in your phone; existing customers only, individually or via Status.

The notice
Standard
Hi [name], a heads-up: from [date], [service] will be RM [new price] (currently RM [old price]). [One-line reason]. Bookings made before [date] stay at the current price. Thank you for being with us.
With lock-in
From [date], our prices change: [service] RM [new]. If you would like to book your next [N] visits at the current RM [old], you can do so until [date]. Just tell me the dates.
Membership or subscription
Your [plan] renews on [date]. From that renewal, the price is RM [new] a month (currently RM [old]) because [reason]. Nothing to do if you wish to continue; reply here if you would like to change plans.
Products
From [date], prices on [range] rise by about [percent] due to [supplier / shipping costs]. Orders placed before [date] are at current prices.
Status post
Price update from [date]: [service] RM [new]. Book before [date] at current prices. Thank you for your support.
Reasons that land
- "Our rent and supply costs have risen."
- "We have raised our team's pay."
- "We have moved to [better product / longer appointment]."
- "Our first change in [N] years."
One line. Customers do not need a paragraph and do not believe one.
Replies to objections
Why?
Fair question. [Reason]. We kept the increase as small as we could and held it off as long as we could. I would rather keep you as a customer than lose you over it, so if the new price is a problem, tell me and we will look at options.
Considering leaving
I understand. Before you decide, [lock-in / smaller package / loyalty rate] is available. If you do go, thank you for [N] years with us, and the door is always open.
Loyal customer
You have been with us since [year], so I wanted to tell you personally. [Notice]. For you, [loyalty gesture] until [date].
Confirm at old price
Done: [N] visits booked at RM [old] on [dates]. Thank you.
Renewal proceeds
Thank you for continuing. Your [plan] renews on [date] at RM [new]. Receipt to follow.
Reminder before the date
A reminder that current prices apply until [date]. After that, [service] is RM [new]. Book here if you would like to lock in.
Every template here can be a taught answer or an instruction line in a ReplyKit agent, so the notice is a taught answer whenever a customer asks about prices in the transition period, and the old-price bookings are made in the chat without a person copying and pasting. The agent asks the questions in order, fills the lead card, and hands over when the template says a person should. Instructions are in how to write instructions.
Consent for sending the notice is covered in consent and opt-out rules, and the wider retention approach in customer retention on WhatsApp.
