Both now overlap. Wati's Growth plan lists Instagram DM and comment automations and DM automations for TikTok and Messenger. ManyChat's Pro plan lists WhatsApp broadcasts and AI replies. Does ManyChat do WhatsApp properly?
Yes, but only on paid plans from Pro upward, and through the official API with your own WhatsApp Business Account. ManyChat's Free and Essential plans let you connect two channels chosen from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook Messenger and Telegram; WhatsApp is not on that list. Pro lets you connect any three channels including WhatsApp, and Business and Advanced connect all of them.
WhatsApp message charges on ManyChat come from the ManyChat Wallet. Its WhatsApp pricing guide says you connect your WhatsApp Business Account, share your credit line with ManyChat, and funds are deducted immediately after each billable message is delivered. Active contacts against users: which meter hurts more?
ManyChat counts active contacts: anyone you send to or receive from in a month, through automations, AI, broadcasts or the inbox. Go over your plan's allowance and ManyChat keeps running but charges per extra contact, billed monthly even on annual plans.

Wati does not count contacts at all; it counts users and broadcasts (15,000 a month on Growth, unlimited on Pro). So a WhatsApp broadcast to 5,000 opted-in customers costs nothing extra on Wati Pro beyond Meta's message charges, while on ManyChat Pro it adds 2,500 contacts over the allowance, or $125 that month. If you broadcast to large lists, that difference matters.
What do WhatsApp messages cost on each?
ManyChat publishes its per-message rates in US dollars; Wati bills from its own rate card, so Meta's list rate is the floor for comparison. Rates effective 1 October 2026.

ManyChat's service rate matches Meta's list, while its marketing and utility rates sit about 15% above. Every WhatsApp number gets 1,000 free service messages a month, and messages customers send you are free. One market note: Meta does not currently deliver marketing templates to US numbers, so US businesses cannot run WhatsApp promotions to US customers on either tool.
